Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is only about one hundred years old. Current craps formed from the 12th Century Anglo game called Hazard. No one absolutely knows the beginnings of the game, although Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the 12th century. It is presumed that Sir William’s knights enjoyed Hazard through a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.
Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when displaced by the English, the French headed down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it more mathematically fair.
