Dice and dice games date all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps developed from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. It’s believed that Sir William’s knights played Hazard during a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was acquired from the citadel’s name.
Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when banished by the English, the French moved down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s believed that the Cajuns altered the name to craps, which was gotten from the name of the losing toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."
